GEORGE VOZNAK

George Voznak, age 94, of Northlake, IL died September 24, 2013 in Northlake, IL.

 

Beloved husband of Millie, father of Mike, Pat, Joe & Sandra Lesnike. George was born February 1, 1919 in Chicago, IL. He was raised in the Necedah/New Lisbon area. George served in the US Navy abroad the USS Pom Pon during the WWII, where he survived nine patrols and earned the nickname “Fearless Voz” as a motor machinist mate 1st class. After the Navy he returned to Chicago, IL. He married Millie Yamriska  on June 24, 1950 in Connorsville, WI and raised his family. His heart always longed to return to Wisconsin, George was part poet, mechanical genius, with an enormous sense of humor and uncanny wit. He will be missed. “I have competed well; I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. From now on the crown of righteousness awaits me, which the lord, the just judge will award to me on that day.”

George is preceded in death by his parents.

George is survived by his wife Millie of 63 years; sons Mike, Pat and Joe Voznak; daughter Sandra Lesnike and husband Pierce. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services were held Monday, September 30, 2013 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Glenwood City, WI with Reverend Diane House officiating. Burial was in the Tiffany Cemetery Boyceville.
