David passed away on September 17, 2013 at the Mayo Clinic Health System, Menomonie, Wisconsin.
Dave was born February 1, 1942 to Jacob and Elizabeth (Reis) Kraft in Glencross, SD, the 15th of 16 children. He attended grade school in Glencross and high school in Timber Lake, SD. Dave enlisted in the Army in October 13, 1960 and was discharged on October 12, 1962. After being discharged from the Army, he worked as a carpenter and superintendent for M&M Construction, Beloit, Wisconsin. He finished his career as a superintendent for JP Cullen and Sons Construction, Janesville, Wisconsin until he retired in 2001.
He married Joy Rasmussen on May 23, 1991 in River Falls, Wisconsin. They made their home in many places in southern Wisconsin, but spent most of their time in Hanover from 1991 to 2002. After retirement, they made their home in Glenwood City, Wisconsin and Dave enjoyed most of all wood working, gardening and canning.
Dave was a very humble man with a great love for his wife, Joy, his children, and grandchildren. His love and time was also given to his siblings, nieces and nephews and all those who called him grandpa and friend. He was always planning what his next wood working and canning projects would be.
Dave is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Claudie (killed in WW II), Francis “Butch”, Tony, Edward, Gene, Andy, Dick, Herman and his sister Eleanor.
Dave is survived by his wife, Joy of Glenwood City, Wisconsin, his children: Tim Fjeldseth (Lisa), Boulder, Montana, Travis Kraft (Julie), Cypress, Texas, Jake (Kris), Westfield, Wisconsin, Justin (Karen), Alexandria, Virginia, Judy Foster Babcock (David), River Falls, Wisconsin, Andrew Foster (Becky), River Falls, Wisconsin; his 11 grandchildren, Matt, Lauren, Zakk, Katie, Ethan, Kaleb, Elizabeth, Thea, Adam, Trevor and Theron; and his siblings Edith Scherer, Marie Klein, Idora Wortman, Helen Bracken, Fred Kraft and Jack Kraft. He is also survived by countless friends and co-workers.
A memorial service for David Russell Kraft will be held at the Kraft residence, Glenwood City, Wisconsin at 1:00 p.m. on September 21, 2013.
