Emily Ann Wollman of Fond du Lac and Michael Jon Werner of Colfax were married June 1 at Old Mill Inn in Portage.

Married June 14 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Madison were Amanda Werner of Colfax and Jeremy Shecterie of Waterford.

Colfax Area Theatrical Society (CATS) is planning their second bi-annual trip to New York City to see three Broadway plays and do some sightseeing.

25 years ago – September 15, 1988

Desiree Lise Bohnen of Colfax and Paul Michael Keddell were married Aug. 20 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Elk Mound.

Friends and neighbors turned out to fill silos on the Ken Rothbauer farm north of Colfax while Ken is recovering from a heart attack.

A black bear made two separate attacks on calves owned by Ron Krueger north of Colfax on county trunk W, killing one and injuring another.

On Sept. 14, Wisconsin became the 27th state to operate a lottery, introducing scratch off tickets and pull tab tickets.

35 years ago September 21, 1978

Lightning struck the vehicle driven by Mr. and Mrs. Norman Nelson while driving on Highway 170 in Otter Creek. While Mrs. Nelson was being taken to the hospital, the ambulance she was being transported in was struck by a wheel that had come off an auto driven by Timothy Metzger. A Dunn County traffic officer following the ambulance struck the wheel lying on the highway, causing considerable damage to his car’s undercarriage.

The Colfax Fire Dept. was called to a blaze at the home of Joe Satter, Rt. 1 Colfax when lightning struck his house.

The Colfax football team finally scored some points in a 29-6 win over Boyceville for their first conference win. Robbie Railton scored on a safety, a touchdown run and two point conversion run in the win.

50 years ago – September 19, 1963

Miss Mary Ann Michels of Colfax and Gerald J. Bennesch of Chippewa Falls were married Sept. 7 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Cooks Valley.

Family and friends helped Mrs. Kirstene Emerson of Wheeler celebrate her 99th birthday Tuesday afternoon.

Merlyn “Hoop” Suckow escaped with just a severely skinned leg and a broken arm when he fell into a finishing tank at the village disposal plant while cleaning it. There was 25 feet of water in the tank and luckily Suckow was pulled out by his son Duane and Delmar Kressin.

65 years ago – September 23, 1948

Witnessed by a crowd of over 1,000 fans, the Colfax football team won their first game on their field with the new floodlights 20-6 over Glenwood City.

An Open House will be held at Colfax Lutheran Church Sept. 26 in honor of the silver wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Jensen of Elk Mound.

Sand Creek archers played hosts to their first tournament as Mrs. John Hammer of Colfax placed third in the Ladies class, Donnie Hammer won the junior division, John Hammer won the experts class while Earl Hammer was second.

100 years ago – October 3, 1913

A beautiful wedding took place at the home of the Bride and Groom Oct. 1 when Miss Caroline Johnson was united in marriage to Mr. Sam K. Iverson.

The home of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Bitney of Cooks Valley was the scene of a home wedding when their second daughter, Miss Myrtle Isabel was joined in matrimony to Mr. Oscar Hilson.

T. E. Lunn of Wheeler was in town Monday making arrangements for some of his young people to attend our High School.
