ARLA MAE BUTLER
Arla Mae Butler, age 78 of Menomonie, died Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire.
Arla was born February 4, 1935 in Menomonie, WI to Earl and Ina (Johnston) Kostman. She was raised on “the home farm” in the Knapp Hills and graduated from Glenwood City High School in 1953. She married Fred William Butler on June 18, 1953 in Glenwood City, WI.
Over the years Arla enjoyed bowling, golfing, camping and snowmobiling. Labor Day Weekend was especially fun when she and Fred would join the Wakanda Cruisers Snowmobile Club for camping and golfing at White Tail Golf Course in Colfax. Other activities she loved where fishing, hunting, bird watching and caring for and looking at flowers. Arla was “camera shy” but loved to have fun with her family and friends. She was very active in the Menomonie Moose Club # and was part of the “Women Of The Moose.”
Arla is survived by three children, Mark (Melanie Lloyd) Butler of Wheeler, Debra (Lloyd) Sweeny of Menomonie and Dean (Jodi) Butler of Wheeler; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; one brother, LeRoy (Sharon) Kostman of Hersey, WI; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Ina (Johnston) Kostman; her husband, Fred William Butler (2001); one son, Mike; and two grandsons, Brent and Adam.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie with Pastor Steve Crites officiating and a Women Of The Moose Service will precede the funeral. There will be visitation at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. (noon) Wednesday until the time of the service. Burial will be in Teegarden Cemetery in the Town of Lucas, Dunn Co. Wisconsin.
