Marcus John Mikla, 60, of Spooner died Thursday, August 8, 2013 of a heart attack while fishing on Lake Pakashkan in Ontario, Canada.

Marcus was born November 17, 1952, to parents Ben and Eva (Obermueller) Mikla in New Richmond, WI. Marcus grew up in Glenwood City, WI. After completing vocational-technical school in Eau Claire, Marcus became a plumber. After retiring in 2008, Marcus enjoyed working at Heartwood Resort and Conference Center as a maintenance man. Marcus loved spending time with family and friends, hunting, fishing, watching football, and making wood tables and chairs.

Marcus married Cheri Salsted on April 5, 1997 and together they resided at their home in the woods, “Pine Tree Lodge” outside of Spooner.

Marcus is survived by his wife, Cheri; two sons from a previous marriage Jeremy (Andrea) Mikla of Milaca, MN and Benjamin (Amy) Mikla of Mazomanie, WI; five grandchildren Aiden Reina, Haven, Tyce and Nolan; siblings John (Mary) Mikla, Gerald (Darlene) Mikla, Michael (Becky) Mikla, and his twin sister Marlys (Ralph) Ossmann. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Cathy (Mikla) Ross. A private celebration of his life is planned for family and friends at W8125 Dunn Lake Road, Spooner, WI  54801 on Saturday, August 24 in the afternoon.
