KAREN RINDY

Karen Rindy, 40, passed away at her Colfax home surrounded by family on Monday, August 12, 2013.

She was born on July 31, 1973, to Vernon and Corinne (Krall) Haas, in Cadott, WI. Karen graduated from Cadott High School in 1991, and went on to earn a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education at the University of Wisconsin – Stout, in 1995. She student-taught and then worked in sales. On September 21, 1999, she married the love of her life, Chad Rindy, in Madison where they resided until moving to Colfax two years ago. In 2001, Karen gave birth to their son, Zachary, who will enter sixth grade this fall. She was a stay-at-home mom who was a gentle, loving mother.

For the past two years, Karen bravely fought a courageous battle with cancer. She did so with grace and an upbeat spirit – an attitude that prevailed through her final days with her devoted husband and son at her side.

Karen will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her kindness, a contagious positive spirit, intuitiveness, intellect, and for her pleasantness in the face of adversity. She found enjoyment and peace when playing with children, creating art, going for walks, and talking with family and friends.

Karen is survived by her husband, Chad; son, Zachary; her parents, Vernon and Corinne Haas of Cadott; sister, Dr. Angela (Haas) Bojar, brother-in-law, Jeffrey Bojar and their daughter, Hilary Bojar of Boulder Colorado; brother-in-law, Troy Rindy of Oconomowoc, and his former wife, Sharon Rindy and their children, Joshua, Christopher and Nicole Rindy of Waunakee; brother-in-law, Ryan Rindy and his wife, Jody and their children Grace, Jensen, Ella and Jameson of McFarland; Chad’s step-sister, Krista Ottinger and her husband, Scott Ottinger (who is Karen’s cousin) and their children, Courtney, Brianna, Andrea, Will, Rachel, Emily and Sarah of Colfax. Karen is also survived by her father-in-law, Lennis Rindy and his wife, Patti Rindy of Colfax; and her mother-in-law, Dorothy (Rindy) Bliskey and her husband, Brian Bliskey of Fond du Lac.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Frieda (Steinbach) Krall; grandparents, Bernard and Lucy (Henke) Haas; and Karen’s nephew, Luke Ryan Rindy, who died at birth.

Visitation will take place at the Colfax Lutheran Church, 601 River Street in Colfax from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, August 16, 2013, followed by the funeral service at 4 p.m.  A private burial service will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Colfax on Saturday, August 17, 2013.
