STANLEY E. ANDREWS

Stanley Eugene Andrews, age 77, of Wheeler, passed away at his home surrounded by his family and three dogs on Friday, August 2, 2013 after a short courageous battle with cancer.

He was born November 4, 1935 to Ned and Tinka (Hendrikson) Andrews on the home farm in the Township of Hay River, Dunn County. He attended the local country school and later attended Colfax High School. He also attained a degree in Agriculture.

After high school, Stan joined the U.S. Army and served as a cook in Europe. After returning home he married Dona Zavada and was blessed with four children. He worked for the Dunn County Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator. After 40 years of service he retired. The family owned and operated the Northwind Inn in Wheeler for 13 years. Stan served on the Hay River town board for a number of years and was currently Town Chairman. He was a lifelong member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Wheeler, where he served in many capacities within the church.

His lifelong love for food led him to his current love of his life JoAnn Mayfield. They were married August 29, 2009 in Colfax. They enjoyed traveling, fishing, going out to eat, and most importantly cherished their love for God and treasured the time spent with family and friends.

Stan is survived by his wife JoAnn; his children: Bryan (Julie Wolf), Dawn (Pat) McDonald, Deanna (Ron) Steinberger, Heather Fischer; step-children; Joshua (Miranda) Mayfield, Aaron (Megan) Mayfield, Nathan Mayfield; grandchildren: Sydney Blaeser, Monica Blaeser, Amber (Mike) Carlsrud, Jason McDonald, Christopher Steinberger, Stephanie Steinberger, Alycia (Jeff)Fischer Schwartz, Savanah Fischer, Tiana Fischer, Mikaela Fischer; step-grandson, Seth Mayfield; great grandson, Finn Carlsrud; sister, Luana Nygaard; brothers; Allen (Marlys) Andrews, James (Sue) Andrews, Wayne (Sheila) Andrews, Wendell (Diane) Andrews, and brother-in-law Dale Amundson; as well as numerous extended family and friends

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lyn Amundson, and brother-in-law Roger (Stub) Nygaard.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Wheeler with Pastor Ron Burke officiating. Visitation was on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in Our Savior’s Cemetery, township of Hay River, Dunn County at a later date.

Stan stood up and walked to join the Lord, whistling all the way.
