LeAnna and Tom Turcotte became the new owners of the Roadhouse Cafe in Colfax July 22.

Dennis Geissler gave his first official report as the high school principal to the Colfax board of education July 21 in the high school media center.

The Elk Mound High School senior class of 2004 is working on planting a memorial garden for Alicia Wollmer, a member of the class who was killed in a car accident in May.

A son, Nicholas Harold, was born July 20 to Kevin and Shelly Albricht at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Born to Tom and Cindy Bowlin, Marshall, a son, Andrew Thomas, July 15.

Former Colfax athlete Steve Obermueller, stunned a field of heavy favorites July  23 to win the Aurora City Medal Play Golf tournament at the Fox Valley Country Club in Aurora City, Ill.

Colfax graduate Beth Noer received a doctor of pharmacy degree awarded jointly by the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and the University of Texas at Austin.

Joshua Tanner DeMoe was born July 23 at Memorial Hospital in Menomonie to Dennis and Linda DeMoe of Colfax.

Mark and Shannon Toycen of Norwich, Connecticut are the parents of  a daughter, Casey Marie July 22.

John Jahr was recently appointed as the new clerk-treasurer for the Village of Colfax.

For the second time in three years the Colfax Merchants Women’s slow pitch softball team are again declared state champions after winning five straight games in Sheboygan.

A son, Kent Allan, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Morton Matthew of Norwalk, Conn. July 24.

A baby boy, Timothy John was born to Mr. and Mrs. David Fjelsted of Eau Claire at Luther Hospital July 28.

A daughter Ardith Marie was born July 21 to Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Snyder of Wheeler.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Tape of Chetek, a son July 28 at a Rice Lake hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Morris Gustum of Sand Creek are the parents of a son, Thomas Duane July 26 at the Bloomer hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Tom Baehler of Rockford have a new baby girl born July 28.

Mrs. Arthur (Ruth) Satter and Mrs. William (Alma) Buchner both received bachelor of science degrees in lower elementary education from Wisconsin State College in Eau Claire. Mrs. Satter will be teaching third grade and Mrs. Buchner grade four at Colfax this fall.

Conrad Frogner has sold his residence to Arnold Lofthus and Mr. Frogner has purchased the Mervin Gilberts home which he expects to enlarge before occupying.

A host of friends surprised Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Krause at their home August 2 to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary.

After working in the harvest fields in Nebraska for several weeks, Erling Lunn, Kenneth Haugle and Aaron Lee returned to Colfax after traveling to California and to Yellowstone National Park.

The local board of education voted to put in a business course at the high school which will include stenography, typewriting and bookkeeping taught by Miss Flora Ranck.

William E. Raven of this village was appointed over four others for the position of County Highway Commissioner.

Miss Ellie Burch came here the latter part of last week from her labors as a teacher in Duluth for a visit at the home of her sister Mrs. E. B. Hill.
