DEAN A. RICHARDSON

Dean A. Richardson, age 79, a special man, died peacefully at home on July 3, 2013 after a 2 year valiant battle with cancer. He received loving care from his wife Rosemarie along with Mayo Systems Hospice.

Dean was born Sept. 18, 1933 in Arkansaw, WI to Charles and Elda (Tulip) Richardson. He attended the Marble Country School for 4 years and Arkansaw Grade School and high school. After graduation he went to California and worked with his brothers Rex and Cy. In 1952 he enlisted in the US Air Force. He received his electronic training in Biloxi, MS. He spent 2 1/2 years in Japan before returning home and finishing his time in the service in Finland, MN. During this time he came home almost every weekend, which is when he met his wife Rosemarie Fedie and they married April 5, 1956. Dean spent 25 years working for Univac as a systems designer, instructor, technical liaison and participating in all phases of computing. They moved their family often including CA, MN, NY, London England; 14 locations in all, where he ran computing centers. In 1977 they returned to the U.S. and purchased the bowling alley in Glenwood City from Ed and Marge Mady and renamed it Dean’s Lanes. In 1991, they sold the bowling alley to Larry “Leaker” and Cheryl Standaert. In 1981 they purchased their home where they still resided. In 1979 they joined the Glen Hills Golf Club and they have been active members since. Golfing together was an activity they really enjoyed. Dean loved his children, grandchildren and watching their sporting events. Golfing on Tuesday morning with the Senior League, time with the family dog Jake, bowling, reading, the daily crossword puzzles, fishing, hunting, gardening and feeding the birds. He also loved music, he was a member of the church choir for many years.

Dean is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Faye Ingli, Margaret Rasmussen and Lorraine Arthur; brothers Cyril, Bernard and Rex Richardson.

Dean is survived by his wife Rosemarie Richardson of Glenwood City, WI; children Mark (Jean) Richardson of Inver Grove, MN, Kevin (Linda) Richardson of Green Bay, WI, Tod Richardson of Glenwood City, WI, Tedd Richardson of Minneapolis, MN, Mary (Craig) Ashleson of Downing, WI; grandchildren Nethalie (Jason) Hunkins, Lindsey (Aaron) Meyers, Charles & Steven Richardson, Max & Alexandra Richardson, April, Kevin & David Ashleson; great-grandchildren Rukkus, Ryder & Reese Hunkins and Reid Meyers; brothers & sister Don (Karol) Richardson of Arkansaw, WI, Rodney (Sonja) Richardson of Elmwood, WI, Barbara Klementson and Richard of Arkansaw, WI; brothers- and sisters-in-law Verena Sapp, Arlene Fedie, Arnie (Gloria) Fedie, Francis (Peg) Fedie, Ron (Doris) Drier, Jim (Helen) Feeney, Gordy (LaVina) Gifford, Dan (Sue) Fedie, Henry (Brenda) Fedie, Donna Fedie, Dan (Annette) Schwab and Bob (Audrey) Fedie. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial was be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2013 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Glenwood City, WI with Fr. John Long as celebrant. Burial will be in the Arkansaw Memorial Cemetery Twp. in Waterville, WI.
