DORIS M. SMITH

Doris M. Smith, age 80, of Downing, WI died Saturday June 15, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire, WI.

Doris was born October 2, 1932 in Boyceville, WI to Sailes and Mabel (Orfgen) Keck. She attended the Midway school before they moved to Downing where she attended the Glenwood City School. Doris worked at the Downing Bowling Alley as a pin setter, where she met and later married Eugene “Gene” Smith on November 25, 1950. To this union 2 daughters and a son were born. Doris also worked for the Glenwood City school district as a cook and custodian for 18 years. After retiring they spent 10 years wintering in Texas. She loved making afghans, baking, cleaning house and watching the birds.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Doris is survived by her husband Eugene Smith of Downing, WI; daughters Chris Burton and husband Larry of Forest Lake, MN, Spring Schutts and husband Val of Boyceville, WI; son Randy Smith and wife Yvonne of Mendota, IL; six grandchildren; Tim Burton, Joshua Schutts, Lance Schutts, Kent Schutts, April Lopez and Eric Smith; eight great grandchildren; brother Gilbert Keck of Boyceville, WI. She is further survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Downing, WI with Reverend Mary Beth Scow officiating. Burial will be in the Mound Cemetery Downing, WI. Friends may call at the Anderson Funeral Home in Glenwood City on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
