MARGARET E. “PEGGY” JENSEN

Margaret E. “Peggy” Jensen, age 80, of Colfax, WI passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013 at her home.

The former Margaret Eileen Curtis was born February 27, 1933 in Eau Claire, WI to Merton and Olga (Jarstad) Curtis.  She was raised in the Elk Mound area and graduated valedictorian at Elk Mound High School in 1951.  During high school she was active in band, forensics, glee club, mixed chorus, pep band, the school newspaper and on the annual staff, as well as a member of 4-H.

Following graduation Peggy attended technical college and worked at the Federal Land Bank in Chippewa Falls.

On October 25, 1952, Peggy married Richard “Dick” Jensen at Big Elk Creek Lutheran Church.  Together they formed a partnership with Dick’s brother Don and his wife Borgny Jensen, “Jensen Bros. and Albertville Registered Holsteins” until retiring.

Peggy was confirmed and a lifelong member of Big Elk Creek Lutheran Church, where she was active in Ladies Aide and Esther Circle and sang in the church choir.  She was also a member of Albertville HCE, Chippewa County HCE president and district chair and a member of Master Farmers.

Peggy and Dick spent many enjoyable winters in Florida, but the most important were days spent with family. She embraced everyone who became part of her family and was always “Mom”.  Days were always brighter with her grandkids. Peggy was a great wife, mom, grandma and friend to many.  She will be remembered for her kind heart and generous spirit.

Peggy is survived by four children; Jane Jensen (Wade Botsford) of Sheboygan, Joy (Joe) Brehm of Knapp, Jim (Jolene) Jensen of Colfax and Christa (Dan) Horel of Elk Mound; five grandchildren, Mackenzie, Morgan and Nicolaus Jensen, and Kendra and Brooke Horel.  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Merton and Olga Curtis; her husband Dick; brother and sister-in-law, David and Francine Curtis.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2013 at Big Elk Creek Lutheran Church in the Town of Wheaton, Chippewa Co. WI with Pastor Hal Schroetter officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  There will be visitation from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.
