IMPEACHMENT RISK?
Have you all been watching as the news unfolds about the September 11, 2012 terror attack in Benghazi and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) targeting conservative groups?
I remember back when President Richard Nixon was on the hot seat and ended up resigning over the Watergate Cover Up. At that time I took little interest in the political goings-on in Washington, D.C. That was until my good friend Richard Rivard said to me, “This is the type of thing that brings down a government.”
Since then I have felt that our elected officials need to keep us informed on what is going on and why. The Benghazi affair is much worst than Watergate for many reasons including the death of four people. We were told by the Obama Administration that it was a citizens protest that got out of hand over some video. The President, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, our UN Administrator Susan Rice and other officials told us that it happened because of that video.
Now it appears that it was totally an Islamic terrorists’ attack and as citizens we need to know what happened and why those four people including our ambassador were killed and our government did nothing but stand down. It appears to me that the president is not willing to carry the big stick and strike down those that would hurt us.
George Bush had the September 11th attack, but he put a stop to further attacks. But under Obama those attacks continue and we have had at least one every year since Obama took office.
Now comes the news that the IRS has targeted conservative groups that are outspoken against the President’s policies have been subject to harassment. Those groups, like the Tea Party have been asked to hand over a list of donors so the IRS can review that. If you had donated to any of those groups and the IRS got your name on a list, I am sure you would be subject to some IRS review.
Those groups are exercising one of the freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment of the Constitution. I will print the entire First Amendment at the end of this piece.
Now the President needs to stand up and address the country and come clean on what happened in Benghazi and why and apologize for the IRS thing so, then we can move on with what needs to be addressed in our country.
