LYDA H. AINSWORTH
Lyda H. Ainsworth, age 103, of Glenwood City, WI died Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Glenhaven Inc. in Glenwood City, WI.
Lyda was born December 8, 1909 in Appleton, WI to Guy Henry and Emma Matilda (Moyle) Ainsworth. She grow up in the Downsville area where she attended elementary school and later graduated from Glenwood City High School in 1927. She earned her BA degree from Northland College in 1932 and her masters from Stout State University in 1964. Her masters in Counseling allowed her to teach during the summers. She taught English and journalism and served as counselor for senior and junior high schools for 41 years. She taught at many schools in the area: Boyceville, Cable, Prairie Farm, Butternut, Waupun, Muskego, Waunakee, Ashland, River Falls and Glenwood City. She served in the schools as a public relations person and after retiring she continued. She also worked in music where her Girls’ Glee Club placed at the time. Lyda was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, where she was baptized by her grandfather, Reverend William Moyle in 1914; which later became the United Methodist Church. She was very active in her church, serving as Sunday School teacher, offices in the Women’s groups. She was a licensed lay speaker and lay leader. Lyda is survived by her church family and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Glenwood City with Reverend Mary Beth Skow officiating. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery Glenwood City. Friends may call at the church from 11 to 1 at church on Tuesday. Local arrangements by the Anderson Funeral Home in Glenwood City, WI.
