LEOLA IONE RETZ

Leola Ione Retz passed away on May 7, 2013.

She was born April 29, 1927 to Everett and Pauline (Kelm) Delong in the Township of Eau Galle, Dunn County, Wisconsin. She graduated from Elmwood High School, Elmwood, Wisconsin. On September 21, 1945 she married Lawrence L. Retz at Zions’ Ev. Lutheran Church in the Township of Eau Galle, Wisconsin. They farmed near Boyceville most of their lives. They were active members of St. John’s Lutheran Church at Boyceville.

Leola is survived by her brother Gordon (May) Delong, three children: Beverly (James C.) Hanson from West Bend, WI; Marion (Sherwyn) Oas from Fitchburg, WI; and David Retz from Boyceville. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Jeremy (Jill) Hanson, Erik (Stacy) Hanson, Jayme (Cathy) Retz, Tim (Dawn) Oas, Christa (Nathan) Miller, Alesha (Luke) Kersten, Jill (Thomas) Bartman, and Derrick (Amy) Retz. Sixteen great-grandchildren also survive and one more is coming soon. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and many friends.

Leola is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence, and a daughter Janet Carol Retz. She is also preceded by all of her husband’s sisters and brothers and their spouses. These include Elsie (Frank Heigeman), Mabel Retz, Reuben (Sidonia Boom) Retz, Carl (Vera) Retz, and Emil (Margaret) Retz.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 11, 2013 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Boyceville, WI with Reverend Paul Carlson officiating. Burial was in the Hay River Cemetery in the Township of Hay River, WI. Local arrangements by the Anderson Funeral Home in Glenwood City, WI.
