Sarah Hughes, three sport letterwinner at Colfax and former UW-Eau Claire women’s basketball player, will be the guest speaker at the Colfax athletic banquet.
A daughter, Kendra Dawn Dierich, was born April 10 in Menomonie to Kyra Dierich and Joshua Hitz.
Lauren Castillo was a triple winner for Colfax in a home track meet, winning the 400m dash, the 800m run and the triple jump.
25 years ago – April 28, 1988
Brigid Schindler was named Female Athlete of the Year and Charlie DeLorge was chosen as Male Athlete of the Year at the Colfax Athletic banquet. Todd Grossnickle and Lara Bohnen were named Most Coachable and Pat Sumstad was the Loyal Fan Award winner.
The Star Greenhand Award went to Chad Durrstein and Scott Bennesch received the DeKalb Award at the Colfax FFA banquet, Larry Osterberg was given the FFA Alumni Award.
A Minnesota man and woman have been arrested in connection with the robbery of the Elk Mound IGA store.

The Rev. Donald W. Brecke will be installed as pastor of Holden, Norton and North Running Valley Churches of Colfax.
Rob Railton pitched a no hitter and Tim Prince powered a grand slam as the Vikings beat Arkansaw 9-1.
Steve Obermueller was named Boy Athlete of the Year and Denise Knutson Girl Athlete of the Year at the annual Colfax High School athletic banquet. Mark Lofthus and Tammy Hoyland were named the Most Coachable athletes.
50 years ago – May 2, 1963
Guy Woodford and his orchestra will furnish the music for the Colfax High School prom May 4. Dancing to the theme “Hawaiian Sunset”, Dan Wigdahl was named King and Vickie Bille was the Queen.
Gary Stene was awarded the sportsmanship trophy as having been the athlete judged the best in accepting coaching and showing the most sportsmanship at the Colfax annual athletic banquet. Dr. Harlan Earnhart made the presentation.
Shirley Ann Larson and Robert Pierce, Jr. both of Colfax, were married at the Colfax rural parsonage April 20.
65 years ago – May 6, 1948
Miss Lucille Bauer of Colfax became the bride of Robert Marek of Bloomer April 24 at a nuptial high mass at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer.
Tom Prince hurled a four hitter and struck out 14 Blackhawks as Colfax High won a baseball game against Bloomer 7-0.
Former Colfax resident Mrs. H. W. Quale (Dagmar Mortenson), age 48, passed away in Minneapolis May 1 following a lingering illness.

We are informed that Miss Maria Noer has been appointed to a position as nurse at St. Luke’s hospital in St. Paul and expects to enter upon her new duties some time in June.

At the home of Mr. and Mrs. John J. Holt at Norton last Saturday, occurred the marriage of their daughter Nettie Bartelson to Mr. Hans Staalson.
