MELVIN H. DOMMER
Melvin H. Dommer, 85, of Chippewa Falls, died Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Chippewa Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation in Chippewa Falls.
He was born April 20, 1927 in Pierce, NE to Bessie (Ahlman) and Elmer Dommer.
Mel married Anita Kraemer on June 6, 1948 in Norfolk, NE. In 1956, they moved to Colfax and then to Chippewa Falls in 1977.
Mel’s favorite pastimes were painting, carpentry, fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 65 years, Anita of Chippewa Falls; two daughters, Marcia (Gerald) Goettl of Chippewa Falls, Linda Dommer of Menomonie; two grandsons, Jon Goettl of Chippewa Falls, Bryan (Billie) Goettl of Bloomer; three great-grandsons, Logan, Cody and Derek Goettl; a brother Dennis (Frances) Dommer of Columbus, NE; two sisters, Esther Wiese of Benkelman, NE, Beulah (Gene) O’Neal of Camarillo, CA; three brothers-in-law, Leonard Kraemer of Rathdrum, Idaho, Melvin (Neva) Kraemer of Wakefield, NE, Kenneth (Doris Ann) Kraemer of Webster City, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Kraemer of Wayne, NE, Frances Kraemer of Laurel, NE; many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Lyle Wiese and a nephew, Keith Dommer.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 8 at Zion Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with Rev. T. Clinton Stark officiating. Interment was in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Visitation was from 3-6 p.m., Sunday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
Memorials in Mel’s honor are appreciated and may be designated to Zion Lutheran Church.
