LYMAN C. ROGNHOLT
Lyman “Shorty” Rognholt age 82, passed away on Monday March 11, 2013 at his home in Coon Rapids, MN. He was born January 1, 1931 in rural Mondovi, WI, the son of Clarence and Clara (Hoff) Rognholt.
During his youth Lyman’s family moved often and he attended many area schools including Boardman, Erin Corners, Schindler, Downing, Peck and Boyceville.
While living and working in Minneapolis he met his future wife, Rose Schlueter at a dance in the Marigold Ballroom. They were united in marriage on September 26, 1959 in Albany, MN. Lyman worked at Carter Day Manufacturing in Minneapolis. In retirement he traveled and loved camping with his family. His hobbies included dancing, gardening, finding bargains at auctions and thrift sales and hunting. Lyman’s favorite pastime was fishing and he had no shortage of fishing stories and many other conversations to share with everyone he met. “Shorty” was a loving husband, father, brother and uncle and will be missed by all.
Lyman is survived by his wife Rose; daughter Pam Rognholt of Coon Rapids, MN; twin sister Lyla (Myron) Marlett of Boyceville, WI; brother Rodney (Bonnie) Rognholt of Cottonwood, AZ; sister-in-laws Donna Rognholt of Boyceville, WI, Gertrude Jochum of St. Paul, MN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Harold, Harland, Conrad; five sisters, Harriette Mueller, Lucille LeBarre, Mildred Martell, Norma Hillstead, and Joanne Pittman.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Advent Lutheran Church, Anoka, MN, with Pastor Robert Linstrand officiating and interment at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coop Rapids, MN.
Fisherman’s Prayer
I pray that I may live to fish
Until my dying day;
and when I come to my last cast,
I then humbly pray,
When in the Lord’s great landing net
And peacefully asleep,
That in His mercy I be judged
Big enough to keep.
