MANVILLE “MANNY” E. PRICE

Manville “Manny” E. Price, 95, of Elk Mound was called home on April 3, 2013. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his family at Dove Healthcare West in Eau Claire, WI.

Manny was born at home in the town of Stanton, near Boyceville, WI, on July 28, 1917. He was the son of Arnold and Elsie (Grutt) Price and the eldest of ten children. On August 4, 1945, Manny married Myrna Clenora Berge. Together the couple had four children. After their marriage they farmed in rural Elk Mound until 1980. When they retired from farming, they continued to be proprietors of Kwik Wash / Korner Kurl.  They moved to the village of Elk Mound where they were active in the community and known as “Grandpa Price” and “Grandma Price” to many neighborhood children throughout the years.

Manny was a veteran of WWII and served his country from 1942 to 1945. Prior to that, he worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps. Manny was a charter member and was very active in the Elk Mound Lions Club. He volunteered extensive hours to the development and maintenance of the village park. In 2010, the original ball-field was dedicated to his name. He was a lifelong lover of the outdoors and cherished his time at the cabin where he spent countless hours on Axehandle Lake. His love of fishing wasn’t hindered by winter, instead he could be found making a hole on the ice and catching another one. He was a master at fixing whatever needed attention and also spent many hours gardening.

Manny was loved and respected by the many people whose lives he touched. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Myrna; sons, Ken (Donna) Price, Greg (Joyce) Price, Keith (Julie) Price; daughter, Kathy (David) Kopp, all of Elk Mound; eleven grandchildren, Anthony, (Vikki) Price, Brad Price, Jim (Lori) Price, John Price, Trevor Linberg, Mark Price, David Price, Troy Mahler, Shane Mahler, Brenda (Scott) Johnson and Steven (Tracy) Kopp; seventeen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Arlene (Roger) Hones, and Charlotta Anderson; brother, Orville (Freida) Price; sisters-in-law, Darlene Stackhouse, JoAnn Price and Helen Berge; and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Milfred Price, Willard Price, Elmer Price, Arthur Price, and Arnold Price Jr.; sister, Adeline Hilson; and brothers-in-law, Alvin (Arlene) Berge and Gerald (Arlene) Berge.

A tender giving heart stopped beating. His hard-working hands peacefully rest. While our hearts are grieving, we rejoice in his eternal rest.

Visitation was on Sunday, April 7, 2013, from 3 to 6 PM at Sampson Funeral Home, 1017 Railroad Ave., Colfax. The funeral service was held on April 8 at Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church, 207 University Street, Elk Mound. Pastor Michael Wollman was the officiant. Interment was in the Waneka Cemetery, Town of Spring Brook, Dunn County WI, with military honors conducted by Eau Claire American Legion Post #53.
