JOHN W. HOWARD

John W. Howard, age 65, of Boyceville WI passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire WI after complications from surgery.

He was born Sept. 10, 1947 in Grand Island, NE to John Junker and Dorothy Ludtke. His father died of leukemia Aug 10, 1947. He was raised by his dad Gordon Howard. He graduated Eau Claire North High School in 1965. He also attended New Richmond WITC for welding.

He married Laura Burton March 19, 1966 in United Methodist Church in Boyceville WI. They owned a horse ranch in Lucas Township. Through the unity of this marriage, they were blessed with four beautiful daughters. Their marriage later dissolved. He married Barbara Cameron February 28, 2013 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in New Brighton, MN.

He was a leader of the 4H Club, a leader of the 4H Horse Project and helped build the Horse Barn. He started Badgerland Horse Club. He also enjoyed raising and showing horses and helping children excel in this area. He enjoyed wrestling at all levels especially watching High School. He was a coach of many sports. He was an avid football fan. He liked camping, fishing and deer hunting. He enjoyed working on vehicles. He loved Country Music and singing Karaoke and that is where he met his current wife Barb.

He loved his girls who were a big part of his life. He loved to call Georgina “George Elda”, Jodi “Jo” or “Toad”, Lori “Larry” and Crystal “Gopher”.

John is survived by: His wife, Barbara Cameron; Four daughters: Georgina Howard of Boyceville WI, Jodi (Dean) Butler of Wheeler WI, Lori (Tom) Lamm of Boyceville WI, Crystal Lee (Jared Smith) of Wheeler WI.

He is also survived by several grandchildren: Kari Sell, Amanda (Adam) Hetrick, Daniel and Brentley Sims, Jessica (John) Hager, Joseph (Melissa) Kurschner, Jericka (Steven) Kirby, James (Tasia) Kurschner, Justin, Tyler, Dylan Lamm, Stephanie, Ashley, Sarah, Allyson Lee, and Austin Zebro, 20 plus great-grandchildren, Rodney Burton and all the Burton families, many cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and many relatives.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie WI.  There will be a visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and also one hour prior to the services on Saturday.
