RICHARD C. TALMAGE

Richard Clark Talmage, age 91, of Menomonie, WI passed away Friday, March 15, 2013 at Dunn County Health Care Center.

He was born May 8, 1921 in Connorsville, WI to Ralph and Inez (Clark) Talmage. Richard attended Bolen grade school, and in 1939 graduated from Downing High School.  He was a four year graduate of Veterans on Farm Training from Dunn County School of Agriculture.

Richard joined the U.S. Army on August 9, 1942, serving with Co. C., 47th Armed Medical Battalion in the African, Italian and Sicilian campaigns during World War II, being honorably discharged August 17, 1945.

On May 8, 1948 Richard married Irene Pehlke.  Together they owned and operated Dick’s Café in Connorsville.

On November 15, 1949 they moved to the Pine Grove Dairy Farm on Highway J, and on October 1, 1981 moved to the next farm.  Farming was his life and he especially liked hunting, fishing and snowmobiling.

Dick is survived by his wife, Irene; daughter, Dianne (Frank) Dummer; son Duane (Cindy) Talmage; six grandchildren, Julie (Chris) Babbitt, Tom (Kelly) Dummer, Steven (Kristen) Dummer, Jackie (Mark) Vos, Benjamin Talmage (Amber Brown), and Bradley Talmage; seven great-grandchildren, Ryan, Jake and Allie Dummer; Finley and Declan Dummer; Luke Vos and Westyn Talmage; a sister-in-law, Donna Talmage; also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edward (Lorraine) Talmage and Dale Talmage; and twin grandsons, James and John Dummer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2013 at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie, with Pastor David Whelan officiating.  Military honors will be provided by Harmon-Harris American Legion Post 314.   Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday.  Burial will be in Sherman Cemetery in the spring.
