ALVIN R. KERR

Alvin R. Kerr, age 78, of Glenwood City, WI died Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Comforts of Homes in Baldwin, WI with hospice, following a stroke many years ago.

Alvin was born October 22, 1934 in Glenwood City, WI to Francis and Inga (Kildahl) Kerr. He was raised in the Wilson area and attended the Broadville School and Glenwood City High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served from 1953 to 1956 during the Korean War. He returned home and met Marlene Maes and they where married Dec 13, 1957 in Massena, NY. While in New York he worked on the St. Lawrence Seaway. They returned home where he worked as a carpenter and shingler. He later went to work for RC Hinman and Lunda Bridge building. He also worked for Adolph Peterson in the Twin Cities and worked on the nuclear plant in Red Wing, MN.

Alvin devoted countless volunteer hours to the American Legion in Glenwood City, WI.

Alvin is preceded in death by his parents, son Larry and sister Joyce Schillinger.

Alvin is survived by two sons: Carey Kerr and wife Brenda of Woodville, WI, and Terry Kerr and wife Barb of Texas; daughter in-law Susan Kerr of Glenwood City, WI; grandchildren: Laura Kerr of Woodville, WI, Bo Kerr of Glenwood City, WI, Kyle Kerr of Menomonie, WI, Travis, Trever, Tayler and Tyler Kerr of Texas;  great-grandchildren: Ryan amd Ashlyn Kerr; brothers and sisters: Allen Kerr and wife Dorothy of Wilson, WI, Ralph Kerr of Glenwood City, WI, Roger Kerr and wife Ann of Tomah, WI, John Kerr Jr. and wife Leigh Ann of St. Paul, MN, Arlene Clack and husband Dick of Boyceville, WI, Arliss Rundblad and husband Chuck of Eau Claire, WI, Lorrie Quilling and husband Gene of Menomonie, WI, Inelee Kubesh and husband John and Sandie Kerr of St. Paul, MN. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

Memorial services were held Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Glenwood City, WI. Interment of cremains will be in the Glenwood Cemetery Glenwood City at a later date.
