A daughter Rylee Jean Parker was born Jan 23 to Shawn and Missy Parker at Myrtle Werth Hospital in Menomonie.

The Colfax girls defeated Elk Mound 43-30 to gain a split in the season series as Carina Lenz scored 12 points for the Vikings while Megan Krumrie led the Mounders with 13.

Dan Pedersen, football coach at Elk Mound for three decades, will be enshrined in the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame March 29.

As of Nov. 1, Susan LaNou is the new owner of DeLux Beauty Shop and Tanning Salon on Main Street in Colfax.

25 years ago – February 4, 1988

Kim and Dean Logslett, Rt. 2 Colfax, are the parents of a girl, Lacey Jayne, born Jan. 17.

Jill and Rand Bates, Menomonie, are the parents of a girl, Kayla Renee, born Jan. 25 at Myrtle Werth Medical Center, Menomonie.

A daughter named Brianna Elaine was born to Julie and Steve Obermueller, Aurora, Ill. Dec. 17.

After missing their first 14 shots of the game, the Colfax boys used a strong fourth quarter to take a 49-45 win over Elmwood. Charlie DeLorge hit three consecutive three pointers in a one minute span to tie the score and Greg Albricht came off the bench and put the game away with a pair of free throws.

35 years ago – February 9, 1978

Mr. and Mrs. James Nosker, Hastings, Nebraska, have announced the birth of a son, Nicholas, Jan. 31.

Karen Luann Johnson and Steven John Dahl said their wedding vows Friday evening, January 13 at Colfax Lutheran Church.

Shane Bohnen at 105 pounds and Jerry Marko at 145 copped individual championships at the Dunn-St. Croix Conference meet. It was the first time in five years Colfax has had any individual champions.

The Colfax boys defeated Plum City (coached by Lee Bjurquist)  73-61 and Pepin 82-74 to remain unbeaten in conference play at 11-0.

50 years ago – February 7, 1963

Farmers in the area will gather Tuesday to take part in the annual John Deere Day which will be sponsored by Langel’s Farm Service.

Saturday morning, Rhinehart Schultz, 55, of Wheeler, killed his girlfriend, Mrs. Lorraine Mittlestadt, then turned the 12 gauge shotgun on himself and took his own life. Jealousy was named as the reason for the murder suicide.

Miss Twila Rude now has a Master’s Degree with a joint major in English and Education from the University of Wisconsin and has an assistantship with Dr. Searle at the university that involves the supervision of student teachers in the Madison area.

65 years ago – February 12, 1948

Bernie Bierman, famed University of Minnesota head football coach, spoke to a near capacity crowd of 206 people at the Colfax Commercial Club sponsored athletic banquet at Colfax High School Monday night.

Due to their inability to connect with the hoop, the Colfax home five were defeated by Hudson High 37-25. Tom Prince scored eight points to lead the Vikings.

L. K. Aspen is bringing a new Help-Your-Self-Laundry to his Aspen Appliance Shop where families may take their own laundry and do their own washing. Aspen learned about such a service on a recent trip to Arizona.

100 years ago – February 14, 1913

Messrs Richard Ulin and Siguard Nelson of Boyceville were Sunday visitors in the village. We understand there is someone in our village that is quite attractive to Mr. Ulin.

Sam K. Iverson took a run last Sunday afternoon to New Richmond, where he said he was to lecture on women’s suffrage in the evening, and they say he “held” his audience.
