LORRAINE TURNER
Lorraine Turner passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, January 23, 2013 at the Baldwin Hospital. She had been a resident at Park View Nursing Home since July 26, 2012.
Lorraine Carol Turner was born June 16, 1932, the daughter of Andrew Scott and Elsie Mary (Knerr) Rudesill in Pine Island, Minnesota. She graduated from Spring Valley High School in Spring Valley, WI in 1950. Lorraine attended college at University of Wisconsin – River Falls and received her 2 year Rural Teaching Certificate. She taught at the Cloverdale School for 2 years.
River Falls is where Lorraine met her future husband, Harold Turner. They were married April 25, 1953 at the New Centerville United Methodist Church at New Centerville, Wisconsin.
Lorraine and her husband, Harold farmed together in Gilman Township for 58 years where they raised their 6 children. Lorraine was active in the New Centerville United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She served as a UMW District Officer and taught Sunday School for years. Lorraine was active in 4-H as a Foods Leader. Lorraine & Harold were very active in the Pierce County Farm Bureau where Lorraine served as Women’s Chairperson.
Lorraine & Harold loved to fish and travel and had the opportunity to visit every state. They wintered in Mission, Texas for 16 years.
Lorraine enjoyed reading including the Bible and devotions, collecting cookbooks & recipes, and sewing. Her true enjoyment was her grandchildren & great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Harold, her parents, Andrew & Elsie Rudesill, brother Troy Rudesill, sisters Judy Olson and Audrey Menter, and grandson Rollie Roquette.
Survivors include her 6 children: Sandra (Randy) Roquette, Baldwin, WI; Bradley (Tricia) Turner, Spring Valley, WI; Carter (Ann) Turner, Spring Valley, WI; Eric (Linda) Turner, Spring Valley, WI; Bruce (Carol) Turner, Baldwin, WI; and Nancy (Brian) Lorntson, Coon Rapids, MN; 20 grandchildren: Angela (Carl) DiLaura, Holly (John) Bazille, Wendy (Jon) Konchal, Joshua (Courtney) Turner, Brian (Megan) Turner, Jamie (Tony) Galgowski, Ryan (Bobbie) Turner, Adam (Erin) Turner, Tony (Danelle) Turner, Tyler (Phoebe) Turner, Lindsey (Jake) Koskie, Amy (David) Weikel, Scott Turner, Heidi Turner, Heather Turner, Bailey Turner, Chelsey Turner, Jaron Turner, Cameron Lorntson, Colin Lorntson; 2 siblings: Kent (Ann) Rudesill, Baldwin, WI; Mary (Len) Place, Oshkosh, WI; 2 brothers-in-law: Joe Menter, Knapp, WI; Chuck Olson, Midland, MI; 1 sister-in-law: June Gwinn, Phoenix, AZ; 18 great grandchildren: Garion, Holden, Kaylee, Jacob, Aden, Ethan, Brayden, Harper, Asher, Gwenyvere, Lindson, Sierra, River, Elizabeth, Rebekah, Christina, Bryn, Lily and 5 more on the way; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral was on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at 1p.m. at New Centerville United Methodist Church, Centerville, Wisconsin. Visitation was on Saturday from 2-6 p.m. at Keehr Funeral Home, Spring Valley and also at church on Sunday for one hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers were grandsons: Ryan Turner, Joshua Turner, Brian Turner, Scott Turner, Jaron Turner, Cameron Lorntson, Adam Turner, Tony Turner, and Tyler Turner and Colin Lorntson.
Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Rush River Township, Wisconsin.
