JERRY C. GOVE
Jerry C. Gove, age 75, a resident of Trego died January 9, 2013 at the Spooner Hospital. Jerry was born on April 23, 1937 in Star Prairie, Wisconsin, the son of Clarence and Bernice Gove. On December 26, 1959 he married Virginia Niehoff in River Falls. To this union, nine children were born.
Jerry graduated from New Richmond High School in 1955, then served in the United States Army from July, 1955 to May, 1957. After discharge, he worked at Doboy in New Richmond for several years before taking a job at 3M in Maplewood, Minnesota. Jerry worked for 3M for 27 years as a machinist/superintendent before retiring to the north woods in 1993.
Jerry enjoyed reading, war movies, dice games, cards, and the Green Bay Packers. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. His prized trophies included an 8 pound brown trout caught on the Apple River, and a 31 inch, 11 pound walleye caught through the ice on Lake of the Woods.
Jerry was preceded in death 4 months ago by his beloved wife of 52 years. Also by his parents; sons Kelly and Alan; daughter-in-law Brenda Gove; son-in-law Todd Lystrom; brother-in-law Bill McGee; sister-in-law Elaine Gove; sisters and brothers-in-law Sylvia and Joe Murphy, Marvin and Elaine Niehoff; and brother-in-law Alquin Niehoff.
Jerry is survived by children Diane (Lystrom) Gove, Catherine (Rick) Nelson, Amy Gove, Karen (Tim) Kerner, Duane (Shawn Larsen) Gove, Angie (Mark) Malcore, and Ron (Tonia Morrison) Gove; 9 grandchildren; a great grandchild; brothers Gene and Greg (Connie); sister Mary McGee; in-laws Anna Mae and Joe Fox, Florence and Ed Richmeier, Hank and Ione Niehoff, Bertha Niehoff, Dorothy Niehoff ; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives; the Kromer clan, and many other friends.
A memorial service was held on Monday, January 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Taylor Family Funeral Home in Spooner with Fr. Ed Anderson as celebrant. Visitation was held Sunday, January 13th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on January 14, also the Taylor Funeral Home.
