MANKATO, MN – The AgStar Fund for Rural America, the corporate giving program of AgStar Financial Services, recently awarded $2,000 to Boyceville Community Fire District to purchase stabilization stands.
“These funds have helped us to purchase a Res-Q-Jack lifting and Stabilization Struts system that will make it safer for our emergency personnel and help to shorten the time needed for extrication in motor vehicle accidents, and as you know time means everything,” said Brian Marlette, Boyceville Fire Chief. “This is the second time that we have received a grant from AgStar. We are so appreciative for their efforts to help fund the needs of fire and rescue departments. They have certainly been good to us.”
AgStar presented the Boyceville Community Fire District with their check on November 29th.
The total cost of the Res-Q-Jack was $4,680.55.
The mission of this program is to support rural areas in AgStar’s service area by funding emergency response equipment for volunteer fire, rescue or ambulance departments. Rural volunteer emergency response departments in AgStar’s 69 county service area are eligible to apply for a grant up to $2,500 if it has not received a grant in the last two years.
“Rural communities are being asked to do more with less, even when it comes to emergency services,” explains John Monson, Chair of AgStar’s Fund Board of Trustees. “Many of the grant services we received were for fundamental equipment and supplies. We see deserving volunteer fire, rescue and ambulance departments struggling; that’s why we at AgStar felt compelled to do more.”
Receiving the largest number of requests since the program’s inception, AgStar awarded 94 communities grants totaling $127,835 this year.
In total, AgStar has awarded nearly $567,274 to fire departments, ambulance teams and rescue squads in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
