Wayne Henry Kubes, 69, passed Saturday, September 8, 2012 after losing a courageous battle with prostate cancer for over 3 years.
He leaves his wife of 48 years, Mary Lou (Lechner); his children, Timothy, Barbara, Richard and Ann Marie and their families, including eight grandchildren; and many other extended family members and close friends.
He was born and raised in the farming community of New Prague, MN. He was one of ten children born to Wencel and Anna (Simon) Kubes. After high school graduation, he moved to St. Paul, MN where he attended Humbolt Institute and met his wife Mary Lou. They raised their family in the Apple Valley and Burnsville, MN areas. Wayne worked as a traffic manager before starting his own companies, Transportation Systems, Inc. and Shippers Alliance, Inc.
Wayne thoroughly enjoyed having fun with his family and friends and was known for his distinctive and fun-loving laughter. He enjoyed sports and found a passion in coaching his children in various sports including traveling basketball, football, baseball and softball to name a few. Everyone always enjoyed being part of his teams. As an AZ Cardinals season ticket holder, he loved watching and cheering his favorite NFL football teams to victory.
Wayne always wanted to move to a warmer climate, so he and his wife relocated to Fountain Hills, AZ in 1996. While in Arizona, he continued to enjoy golfing and league bowling, his favorite hobbies. He was also a very active member of the Knights of Columbus Council at St. Bernard of Clairvaux, becoming a 4th degree knight and serving as state deputy. He was an avid and valued participant in local politics and served as precinct chairman.
He enjoyed his frequent trips up to his cabin in Show Low, AZ during the summer where the fishing was always a good time.
Wayne was always well respected by friends and colleagues; someone that everyone truly enjoyed being with. He was intelligent, forthright and a person with tremendous morals. He was a proud father and grandfather and was the number one fan of each and every one. Nobody could give any more.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held in his honor on September 15, 2012 at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church in Scottsdale, AZ at 11AM. Visitation was held before the Mass. He was laid to rest at Angels Rest Columbarium at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Community in Pinetop, AZ.
