NORMAN SUCKOW

Norman Suckow, age 61, of Wheeler, WI passed away Monday, Sept. 10, 2012 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Menomonie.

He was born May 2, 1951 in Menomonie, WI to George and Janet (Steinmeyer) Suckow. Norm was raised in the Wheeler area and graduated from Boyceville High School.

Norm was very proud of serving over 21 years with the Army National Guard, including a deployment to Germany in 1986. He later retired from the National Guard as a Sergeant.

Much of Norman’s life was spent driving semi truck for various companies, the last being with Yaggy Trucking, which was his favorite trucking job. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family at the old family farm near Weston. He also enjoyed putting together model cars and trucks. Family was very dear to Norm. He was liked by all and will be sadly missed.

Norman is survived by his loving life partner, Edna Forrest; a son, Jason Solum; his mother, Janet Carter; father, George (Mervin) Suckow; brothers and sisters, Jim (Lisa) Suckow, Dan (Patty) Suckow, Annette (Paul) Place, Yvonne Goodell and Melvin (Sue) Carter Jr. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ole and Viola Steinmeyer and Charles and Lulu Suckow and a brother, William Charles Suckow.

A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2012 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie with Pastor Steven Carlson officiating. There was a visitation at the funeral home from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial with military honors will be in Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner at a later date.
