EDWARD J. “ED” MIKLA

Edward J. “Ed” Mikla, age 94 of Glenwood City, died Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Glenhaven Inc. in Glenwood City, WI.

Ed was born July 2, 1918 in Milwaukee, WI to Christ and Victoria (Kaminski) Mikla. Ed married Dorothy Olson September 23, 1943 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Glenwood City, where he was a member and belonged to the Knights of Columbus. They farmed west of Glenwood City until 1972. He then worked for Meyers Implement in Baldwin, WI until retiring. He enjoyed fishing all year round, gardening, camping and traveling and later on he enjoyed his trips to the casino. In 2011 Ed moved to Havenwood Assisted Living in Glenwood until July of this year, when he moved into Glenhaven.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy in 2007, daughter-in-law Jane Mikla, and granddaughter Jenny Mikla.

Ed is survived by four sons and a daughter: Jim Mikla and wife Jane of Baldwin, WI; Tom Mikla of Hudson, WI; Larry Mikla and wife Janet of Downing, WI; Rick Mikla and wife Sue of Discovery Bay, CA and Mary Ann Swanepoel and husband Roger of Glenwood City, WI; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; sisters Helen Stowe and Harriet Greiber. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christain burial was held Friday, September 8, 2012 at St. John’s Catholic Church with Father Louis Reddy as celebrant. Burial was in the church cemetery. Local arrangement by the Anderson Funeral Home in Glenwood City, WI.
