LILLIAN C. (SORKNESS) MOEN
Lillian C. (Sorkness) Moen, 89, of Eau Claire, died on Sunday, August 19, 2012, at the Syverson Lutheran Home.
Lillian was born on February 28, 1923, in the Town of Grant, Dunn County, to Carl and Elizabeth (Sandvig) Sorkness. She attended Trout Creek Rural School and graduated from Colfax High School with the class of 1940. She later attended vocational school in Eau Claire.
Lillian was baptized, confirmed, and later married Paul F. Moen on June 2, 1951, at Running Valley Lutheran Free Church, Colfax.
Lillian was employed in the office at Gillette Tire Company, Eau Claire, until the birth of her son, John. Lillian then became a stay-at-home mom. Lillian was later employed as a clerk at Samuelson’s Department Store in downtown Eau Claire.
Lillian was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church, Eau Claire. She recently became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Eau Claire.
Lillian is survived by her son, John (Leslie), two granddaughters, Makayla and Makenna Moen; two sisters-in-law, Irene Sorkness of Madison and Lois Moen of Galesville, nieces and nephews, Carol Burckhardt (Linda Eddy) of Ridgefield, WA, David (Carol) Sorkness of Nine Mile Falls, WA, Karen Sorkness of Madison, Ronald (Christine) Sorkness of Madison, Rita Sorkness of Eau Claire, Alan Sorkness of Camarillo, CA, John Sorkness of Escondido, CA, Paul (Heather) Moen of Madison, Eric (Tina) Moen of Galesville, Kristina (Heath) McMullen of Henderson, NV, and several great nieces and nephews.
Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, in 1973; infant twin daughters; six brothers, Eldor, Morris, Gordon, Delano, Reuben, and Kenneth; three sisters, Lydia Sorkness, Dagny Sorkness, and Gilma Broman; five sisters-in-law, Tina Sorkness, Viola Sorkness, Ruth Sorkness, Donna Sorkness, and Shirley Hovre; two brothers-in-law, Dr. Clarence Moen and Orvil Hovre; three nephews, Gregory Sorkness, Glen Sorkness, and Rodney Sorkness; and two nieces-in-law, Sandra Sorkness and Katherine Howard.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E. Lexington Blvd., in Eau Claire, with Pastor Kurt Jacobson officiating. Burial will be in Lower Running Valley Cemetery, Town of Colfax. Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. in Eau Claire and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
