HUDSON — A 34-year-old Emerald man has been charged with one felony count of maintaining a drug trafficking place and misdemeanor counts of possession of THC and drug paraphernalia.

Brian Leonard Bos, 2690 160th Ave., Emerald, made an initial appearance in St. Croix County Circuit Court Monday on the drug charges along with a case from 2019 of operating a motor vehicle with a revoked driver’s license.

Judge Scott Needham set bail at $750 cash and quashed a warrant issued for Bos’s arrest, according to online court records.

The terms of Bos’s cash bail are that he is required to submit to random drug testing at least two times per week and failure to comply could result in an arrest warrant being issued and/or referral for additional criminal charges.

Conditions of the cash bail also require Bos to maintain absolute sobriety, which includes zero alcohol, zero controlled substances and zero prescribed medications, except as prescribed by a physician, in Bos’s system, on his person or in his possession at all times while the case is ongoing.

Bos also is not allowed to have any drug paraphernalia in his possession and additional drug testing can be ordered upon reasonable suspicion or at the judge’s directive.

In addition, Bos is required to pay for all costs associated with drug testing.

Maintaining a drug trafficking place is a Class I felony that carries a possible penalty, upon conviction, of a fine of up to $10,000 and/or a prison sentence of up to three years and six months.

Bos is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in St. Croix County Circuit Court on November 9 at 8 a.m.

During a preliminary hearing, the court receives testimony from witnesses to determine whether probable cause has been established to continue with the case.
