The Bulldogs cross country teams participated in two meets this past week with some good results as they gear up to host this week’s Conference meet on Thursday.

On Tuesday, October 2nd the Bulldogs were in Amery for an invitational meet. According to head coach, Corey Day, Nathan Corr ran his season best time breaking 19 minutes, 18:49.75 for a 17th place finish to be precise. Cade Klefstad, Nathaniel Chich, Kaiden Standaert, and Justin Lombardo all ran season best times.  But it was Steve Rasmussen who took the second time slot for Boyceville with a time of 19:16.31 and a 30th place finish.

Day comments: “In past years we never have any fast times at Amery.  The conditions were right and our athletes were ready.  We needed to drop time and it is starting to happen.  I am hoping to see another improvement at Arcadia this weekend to prepare us for the conference meet.”

Noelle Wheeldon, Rachel Becker and Ade Harpil, all had season best times as well.

On Saturday, October 6th the Bulldogs were in Arcadia for the Gerald Holte Invitational. Despite the muddy, hilly course, Nathan Corr ran his best time of the year at 18:44.03. He finished first for small schools.

Coach Day describes his race: “He was 30 meters behind going into the 2 mile and three hills later he was 30 meters ahead besting the guy we wanted to beat by 10 seconds.  He showed some patience and a lot of grit on those hills.  This was great to see going into conference.”

For the girls, Rachel Becker was their sole runner for the day.

On Thursday, October 11th the Bulldogs will be hosting the Dunn-St. Croix Conference meet behind Tiffany Creek Elementary School with the boys slated to start at 4:30pm.
