Mounders continue to roll in conference play

The Elk Mound volleyball team remained unbeaten in conference games at 5-0 after a straight set 25-17, 25-15, 25-20 win at home over Plum City Sept. 29. Two days later, the Mounders traveled to Durand to face the Panthers for the first time since they joined the Dunn-St. Croix Conference and needed four sets before earning the 25-20, 25-21, 20-25, 25-19 win.

Hannah Flatness and Morgan Radtke combined for 30 of the teams 41 kills in the match against Plum City as Flatness slammed 17 and Radtke 13. Radtke also denied points at the net with three blocks. Kari Jo Nigon led the Mounders in assists with 28 while Madysen Borofka added 11 and Nigon, Abbey Olsen and Jordyn Abramowicz all served up a pair of aces. Olson saved points with 15 digs to go with 13 from Serena Wieser and five by Abramowicz.

Against Durand, the Flatness-Radtke duo came up big at the net again as they finished with 30 of the Mounders’ 46 kills. Flatness slammed 19 and blocked three Panther shots while Radtke smacked 11 kills and also denied points with three blocks at the net. Olsen led in the back row with 29 digs and served a trio of aces, Wieser worked the whole court with eight kills and 21 digs, Nigon led in assists with 21 and had 13 digs while Borofka assisted her teammates 17 times.

Elk Mound will host Boyceville Oct. 6 then will travel to Colfax for a conference showdown Oct. 8.
