The Elk Mound golf team found out how all golf courses are not the same as they traveled to Glenwood City and Mondovi for conference meets last week. The players were consistent as they finished fifth of six teams in both meets, which were both won by Glenwood City. There were 30 individuals in both matches.
Mark Dickinsen shot the low round for the Mounders at the Glen Hills course Monday, April 21 with a 53 for 18th place as Jake Hierlmeier of Glenwood City was the medalist with a score of 40. Next in for Elk Mound was Jameson Rubenzer at 60 followed by Tim Lambele with a 62, Jonah LaRock with a 74 and Gabe LaRock with a 97.
All five Mounders scored in the 50s as Dickinsen was again low man for the team at The Valley course in Mondovi a day later, dropping his score to 50 for 14th place. Chandler James also placed in the top 20 with a round of 52 for 18th place while Rubenzer came in with a 56, Lambele a 58 and Jonah LaRock with a 59. The Hilltoppers’ Hierlmeier again had the low score for the day with a 37.
“Our team is becoming more comfortable with competing,” Elk Mound coach Annie Kongshaug said. “We are improving with each meet.”
