Colfax dance team completes successful season

The 2013-14 Colfax Dance Team started their competitive season at the Menomonie Holiday Classic. It earned a third-place finish and trophy for its Pom routine in the small school division and a sixth-place finish for the Jazz routine.

The squad then competed in the Conference tournament in Hudson and won the Dunn-St. Croix conference championship with it two routines. Also at the Conference competition, dancers had the opportunity to choose to choreograph and dance a solo. Natalie Dworak chose to put the extra time in to do this. She earned a first-team all conference award and a second-place trophy for her efforts.

Next the Colfax Dance Team competed at the Wisconsin Association of Cheer/Pom Western Regional Competition at New Richmond High School on Saturday January 25, 2014. All teams must qualify at the Eastern, Southern, or Western Regional to compete at the WACPC State High School Dance Championships. The team earned an outstanding third-place finish in the Division 5 Pom category, allowing them to advance to the State Dance Championships.

“Very few teams get to advance to the state competition and the team worked incredibly hard to get there,” said coach Vicki Seston.

At the state competition on February 1, 2014, the Colfax Dance Team had an outstanding performance and earned ninth in the Division 5 category.

Members of this year’s Colfax Varsity Dance Team are: Kenzie Anderson, Sarah Burton, Whitney DeMoe, Georgette Wendt, Allie Yingst, Natalie Dworak, Ashley Sault, Chaela Lotts, and Hannah Yingst.

Although their competitive season has come to a close the Colfax Varsity Dance Team is still performing at the boys and girls basketball games and supporting them in their competitive seasons.
