Mounders warm up for regional play at Mondovi tourney Oct. 19

MONDOVI — The Elk Mound volleyball team played five different teams at the Mondovi tournament Oct. 19 to tune up for regional play that begins Tuesday night. The Mounders beat Menomonie and Gilmanton 2 sets to 0 and Spring Valley 2-1, then split with Menomonie and lost to Mondovi 2-0.

 Morgan Polden smacked a team leading 34 kills for the day while Anna Sessions added 31, Elly Friberg 23, Lizzie Schreiber 18, Moriah Mauer 17 and Carrisa and Serena Wieser both six. Katie Johnson handled most of the setting duties with 105 for the tournament and had a pair of service aces. Sessions picked up five aces and on the defensive end had 19 digs. Johnson led in the digs department with 44, Polden added 42, Kyra Anderson finished with 39 and Sessions 19. Friberg came up with four blocks and three serving aces in the Gilmanton game.
