Lady Mounders finish off conference season with sweep over Bulldogs

Elk Mound’s volleyball team ended their 2013 conference campaign with a 7-2 record after a three set win at home against the Boyceville Bulldogs Oct. 15, leaving them in a three way tie for second place along with Spring Valley and Mondovi. Their two conference losses came against Colfax and Pepin.

The Mounders won 25-16, 25-17 and 25-16 as Anna Sessions was the team leader in kills with 11, in digs with 17 and in blocks with three. Elly Friberg added seven kills and a pair of service aces, Katie Johnson helped her teammates from all over the court with 27 assists, 12 digs and two aces, and Rachel Caron came up with 14 digs while Morgan Polden finished with 10.

After a tournament in Mondovi Oct. 19, the Mounders begin WIAA regional play Oct. 22 as the number seven seed at home against tenth seed Luther. If they win this game they will play the winner of the Durand-Aquinas match Thursday night.
