Lady Mounders finish 3-2 at Roesler Invite
In their final tune up before conference matches began, the Elk Mound volleyball team won three matches and lost two at the Debbie Roesler Memorial Tournament held at Chippewa Falls McDonell High School Sept. 14.
Playing the best two of three sets, the Mounders earned straight set wins over Thorp, Loyal-Granton and Osseo-Fairchild but lost in straight sets to McDonnell and Greenwood. Kill shots were evenly distributed by Mounder players in the tournament as Elly Friberg, Morgan Polden and Anna Sessions all had 12, Lizzie Schreiber finished with 11, Mattie Pitts added eight, Carissa Wieser smacked seven and Moriah Mauer and Serena Wieser both had five. Katie Johnson led the team in assists with 45 including 17 against Thorp and was the team leader in ace serves with 12 with five against O-F and in digs with 19. Dayna Kotecki picked up 28 assists and three aces and 10 digs, Rachel Caron added 16 digs, Friberg came up with 14, Schreiber 11, Kyra Anderson and Kotecki 10 each while Pitts, Polden and Mckenna Borofka finished with six apiece.
