Dairy Barn #2 goes up for the 2013 St. Croix County Fair

St. Croix County Fair, Inc. together with the St. Croix County 4-H Dairy Committee and Friends of the St. Croix County Fairgrounds announce that construction of Dairy Barn #2 has begun and will be complete for the 2013 Fair.  Dairy Barn #2, which will include a milking facility, completes the construction of the Dairy Complex.  A new feature will be a public viewing area for Fair attendees to observe cows being milked.

According to Todd Doornink & Terry Mitchell, Dairy Committee members, “the dream, which started in 1999 has come to be, thanks to the great support of our St. Croix County Community and the hard work of many”. They cordially invite all Fair goers, especially the donors, to stop by and see the completed Dairy Complex.

Since beginning the capital fund drive in 2007, the support has been absolutely incredible from a large cross section of the County.   Of particular note is the strong support of the ag community, 4-H clubs & FFA Chapters, civic organizations, businesses as well as many individuals.  Recent commitments include donations from the New Richmond Area Community Foundation, the Baldwin Woodville Area Community Foundation and the First National Community Bank of New Richmond.  According to Chris Libbey, Friends of the St. Croix County Fairgrounds, & Gail Maier, St Croix County Fair, Inc. “not only has Dairy Barn #1 been completely paid for, but with over $60,000 raised towards Dairy Barn #2 and the support of an area bank loan pool, we are proceeding on Dairy Barn #2 at least a year ahead of schedule!”   The loan pool led by Bremer Bank includes First National Community Bank, Hiawatha Bank, First America Bank, and First Bank of Baldwin.

In other news, The Friends of the St. Croix County Fairplex is changing its name to the Friends of the St. Croix County Fairgrounds.  This will align the Friends name with the action taken at the 2011 Annual Meeting of the St. Croix County Fair Association to continue the facility name as St. Croix County Fairgrounds.   The name change will be transitioned over the next several months to allow the Friends to make an orderly change.

Upcoming events at the St. Croix County Fairgrounds include the 4th Annual May Fair Event & Sale, May 11th, the St. Croix Valley PRCA Rodeo June 14 & 15, and the St. Croix County Fair, July 17-21.  The May Fair Event & Sale is a fun filled family event including live entertainment, a catered meal and silent/live auctions to raise funds for the Fairgrounds,  Both the Rodeo and Fair are great family fun.    Go to <stcroixcofair.com> for details.
