Mounder Cross Country tests runners at Mondovi, finishes near top at Durand

By Cara L. Dempski

Elk Mound’s cross country coach, Jeremiah Fredrickson, started last week by giving his top runners a bit of a break.

He asked some of the other runners to step up and fill in the gaps at the September 19 Mondovi Invitational, and seemed pleased with how each runner performed. The boys’ team took fourth place overall, while the girls’ finished fifth out of five.

The Mounders next traveled to Durand last Thursday, September 21. The boys’ team wound up third out of 16 teams after scoring 111 points, and the girls’ were fourth out of 13 with 152 points.

Elk Mound put in an appearance at September 25 meet held at Colfax’s Whitetail Golf Club, and will head to Osseo September 28. The Mounders will not race again until October 5 when they run in an Eleva-Strum meet.
