MARLENE H. JOHNSON

Marlene H. Johnson, age 80, of Colfax, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems – Eau Claire. 

Marlene was born on January 6, 1937, to Martin and Esther Olson. She graduated from Colfax High School with the class of 1955. Marlene married Raymond Johnson on July 1, 1956, at Colfax Lutheran Church, a union that lasted 60 years. Marlene and Ray have owned and operated Ray’s Metal Works, in Colfax, since 1968. She also owned and operated “The Clothesline” for 13 years with her friend, Mary Fennie. 

Marlene was a lifelong member of Colfax Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Russell Toycen Post 131 Auxillary and served as president for 18 years. She was an EMT with the Colfax Rescue Squad, retiring after 20 years in 1995. Marlene was involved in community events, including the All Class Reunion, the 50th Commemoration of the Colfax Tornado, and the 150th Celebration of the Village of Colfax. She loved sports and attended all the events her children and grandchildren were involved in. She was a dedicated fan of all Colfax High School sports and was awarded the Loyal Fan Award in 2011. Marlene also loved the Green Bay Packers. 

Marlene is survived by her husband, Ray; children, Mike, Craig, Pam (Tom) Mousel, and Mark and grand-dog, Gus, all of Colfax; grandchildren, Josh (Megan) Mousel of Elk Mound and Amy Mousel of Wausau; sisters, Rosella (Bob) Harley, Eunice (Cal) Maier, and Etta Hobbick; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Lillian (Lloyd) LeMense and Nancy (Romaine) Lemke. 

Per Marlene’s wishes, memorials should be directed to the charity of your choice. 

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at Colfax Lutheran Church, 601 E River St., Colfax. Visitation will begin again at Noon on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at the church with funeral services following at 1 p.m. Pastor Leslie Walck will officiate. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Colfax.
