Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is scheduled to begin an improvement project at the I-94/ WIS 128 interchange in St. Croix County on March 27, 2017. Proposed improvements include: Removing and replacing the WIS 128 bridge over I-94 with a wider structure, reconstruction of WIS 128 from 50th Avenue to 56th Avenue, and reconstruction of the interchange ramps. Roundabouts will be constructed with the new interchange ramps.
Hoffman Construction Company is the prime contractor for the $6.4 million project. Eighty percent of the project will be paid with federal transportation funds; the remaining 20 percent will be paid with state transportation funds.
Proposed traffic impacts
Construction is scheduled to begin on March 27, 2017 starting with clearing and grubbing.
During construction, WIS 128 will remain open to traffic. Motorists can expect to encounter lane shifts, flagging operations on WIS 128 throughout the project.
I-94 will have single lane closures during off-peak hours. I-94 traffic will be routed to the off – on ramps during bridge removal and girder placement for a maximum of four nights.
All interchange ramps will remain open to traffic at all times. Ramp work will be staged.
Construction is currently scheduled for completion in mid-November 2017.
