EM boys complete perfect conference season with win over Boyceville

BOYCEVILLE — Having to change a Friday night contest to a Saturday afternoon game due to another snow day didn’t phase the Elk Mound boys as they bounced the Boyceville Bulldogs for the second time this year 67-32 Feb. 22 in Boyceville.

The win ended the regular season for the Mounders with a 16-0 conference record and 21-1 overall. It is the second straight conference title for them and also their second straight undefeated conference season. After receiving a bye as the number one seed in the Division 3 Eau Claire North sectional, the Mounders will play the winner of Black River Falls-Arcadia at home Friday, Feb. 28.

The Bulldogs stayed a little closer to the Mounders this time around in the first quarter anyway as Elk Mound held just a 17-12 lead. But that stifling defense came through again as they held Boyceville to just three second quarter points for a 29-15 halftime lead, then kept them in single digits the final two quarters to finish off the 35 point win.

Zac Doll led the Mounders with 18 points including four triples and Dexter Curry added 15 points.
