Elk Mound track and field off to a good start in 2017

By Cara L. Dempski

MENOMONIE — The Mounders may shortly get tired of the City of Menomonie.

The team traveled to Menomonie High School March 23 for the 2017 Dunn County Indoor Championship meet to open the season. The Mounders came away from the meet with a handful of top-ten finishes and some ideas of what to work on before they visited Menomonie again just two days later.

Elk Mound headed out early the morning of March 25 to participate in UW-Stout’s Northern Badger Indoor Invitational. The boys’ team earned third out of 26 schools, while the girls’ tied for 25th out of 26 schools.

The Mounders raced again at UW-Stout on March 28 before heading to UW-Eau Claire March 30 for another indoor meet before starting the outdoor meet season at St. Croix Central on April 6.
