ELK MOUND — It was a train wreck from start to finish.
Village Board President Tom Gilbert scheduled a special board meeting April 11 to discuss and implement changes suggested by Baker Tilly auditor Kim Schult in regards to oversight of payroll for village employees.
What started as a polite discussion regarding what the board heard from Schult during its April 5 regular meeting, rapidly descended to nearly an hour of disagreement and barbed comments from both sides of the issue while four village residents sat listening.
