Change in plans for Skeeter the Clown

By LeAnn R. Ralph

COLFAX  —  Instead of appearing at the Colfax Fairgrounds on July 8, Skeeter the Advance Clown will be in Tower Park next to the Colfax Municipal Building on that day.

Skeeter is the advance clown for the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus that will at the Colfax Fairgrounds July 18.

Skeeter’s visit at Tower Park is sponsored by the Colfax Commercial Club and the Colfax Public Library.

Following work in Tower Park this spring to improve the drainage around the Colfax Municipal Building, Colfax Commercial Club members and Lisa Bragg-Hurlburt, director of the Colfax Public Library, were concerned that the park would not be ready in time for Skeeter’s visit.

Hurlburt noted that the grass has grown quickly in Tower Park, meaning that the park will be available for use sooner than had initially been anticipated.

According to information provided by the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus, in her programs for groups of children, Skeeter uses history, math, Spanish, American Sign Language, listening, following directions and cooperation.

Skeeter’s first visit in Colfax on July 8 will be at Kyle’s Market at 9 a.m.

Following her visit to Tower Park and the Colfax Public Library at 10 a.m., Skeeter will be at the Colfax Health and Rehabilitation Center at 11 a.m.

All three events are free and open to members of the public of all ages.

The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus on July 18 will feature shows at 5 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m.

Advance tickets are available at businesses around Colfax.

Look for the ad elsewhere in the Colfax Messenger that lists the businesses where tickets are available  and watch for the bright orange signs that proclaim “Circus tickets sold here!”
