MENOMONIE — A 23-year-old Boyceville woman pleaded guilty to misdemeanor bail jumping last month in regards to the 2016 theft of electronic items belonging the Boyceville Area Fire Department.

Hayley Chovan was one of six suspects in the theft named in a criminal complaint filed by the Dunn County District Attorney’s office earlier this year.

She was charged with burglary of a building or dwelling after another suspect named her as one of two people assisting a third suspect in removing several electronic items stored in the fire department’s concession stand at the Boyceville Municipal Airport.

Online court records indicate the burglary charge against Chovan was dismissed and read in, but was found guilty of misdemeanor bail jumping after entering a plea of no contest to the charge. She was sentenced by Judge James Peterson October 5 to one year probation.

Chovan was also ordered to pay into the join restitution of $797.50 for the items taken during the theft.

An October 26 note to the online court record indicates the full restitution amount was paid by co-defendant Robert Fawcett. The record shows this covered restitution payments for Fawcett, Hope Chovan and Hayley Chovan.

It is unclear from online records whether the payment also counted for co-defendants Andrew Helmueller, Andrew Meyer or Micah Minor.
