Alice B. (Lorenz) Evenson, age 76, of Shell Lake, WI, formerly of the Boyceville/Menomonie area, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2018.
Alice was born November 29, 1941 in Boyceville, WI to Florence and Russell Lorenz.
Alice graduated from Boyceville High School, married Phillip Hoppe, and later married Billy Evenson.
Alice was a proud homemaker for the majority of her life. She also worked at various places during her lifetime, including Kraemer Insurance, 3M, and Conagra Foods, but one of her favorite jobs was milk hauling and visiting with the farmers.
Alice was a great cook; using herbs and spices, Alice prepared flavorful meals and desserts. She cooked and baked with “real” butter. She liked to bake cookies and bars, and would often add her favorite ingredient, coconut, to the recipe. She enjoyed making and selling crafts, the challenge of completing a sudoku puzzle and reading Louis L’Amour books. She was a deer and pheasant hunter in her younger years. She also enjoyed fishing, camping, searching for Lake Superior agates, traveling and going on outings with her friend, Eleanor Brehm, which might involve a stop at the Casino on Mondays for the steak and lobster dinner. Alice enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was dearly loved and will be missed.
Alice is survived by her husband of 48 years, Billy, three daughters; Connye (Jeff) Kegen, Cindy Hoppe, Tammy (Dave) Toll, two stepsons; Kevin and Todd Evenson, grandchildren; September Lynn (Christopher) Bessler, Jared Kegen, Travis (Tiffany) Moe, Tatajana Moe, Turner Moe, Matthew Evenson and Melinda Evenson, great grandchildren; Alison, Melody, Naomi, and twins, Marshall and Leland Moe; sister; June (Ronald) Koenig, sisters in law; Gloria Lorenz and Leona Gay Evenson. She is further survived by a niece, a nephew, and other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents; Russell Lorenz and Florence (Jacobsen) Lorenz Woodford, grandson; Nathan Evenson, brother Wayne Lorenz Sr., and brother-in-law Jerome Evenson.
In keeping with the wishes of Alice, there will be no traditional or memorial services held.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mayo Hospital, Eau Claire, for the care that was provided in her time there and St. Croix Hospice RN’s for their compassion and support.
